Writing may be my professional career, and sometimes I
wonder if this is really my passion. Indeed, it is in a portion of my heart and
mind that writing is the profession I want to pursue up to date although I know
I am not really good at it, considering that my English is not that perfect. (Anyway,
education is a continuous process, so I better keep on learning the language.) This
profession also leads me to thinking about my skills apart from the letters
that I have to write on paper and word processor.

I have just starting to be active again in my plans and hope I could make it on my target date. It's going to be on November 2009, if not now then when will I start. May be it would not work out the way I plan it, but I know it will work. I'm positive about the outcome and I believe it will not only benefit me but others as well. And that is my goal. To make this all right for the other. I will be simply a guide and tool and bridge, this means I would like a smooth path. It may be a crazy idea as of now but once it happens, it will going to be the word of craze and there comes the curiosity, then the interest, until it will become a long lasting habit. I'm positive with that. I should be the first one to believe that everything will be all right.
Watch out this November 2009.
Why do we need job title? I started working thinking that I only have to do my responsibilities or tasks assigned to me and then on the 15th and 30th I would get paid. Of course, it is definitely and absolutely true. And I thought that job title only becomes part of my work, but it's the other way around. I became the part of every job title I have so far borrowed from every company I worked for.
At first I don't mind my job title. But I was wrong for not minding it because it tells my "personality" (job description) and "age" (duties and responsibilities/skills and capabilities) which means that job title served as a name in the company. Thus when I worked on a particular task, I felt like I was changing my name.
Company name is like the surname of each job title thus job title is your first name. We often say our "(real) name" and tell them our "job title" and the "company" we are working with. But sooner or later, our clients would forget your "(real) name" or who you are but will remember you with your "job title" or who should handle their concerns. We are often addressed to what is our "name" in the company when our internal or external clients needs something from us or they believe that it is "job title's" responsibility to carry out or solve certain things. And when we introduce ourselves to our clients we tell or site our position and the "surname" or the company we belong. And company, as we most of the time heard, needs a familial atmosphere. For this reason the "first name" is also based on hierarchy minding the "age." Meaning there are parents and children, friends as well. But it doesn't count their age like people but the weight of responsibilities. The rank-and-file or entry-level job title are the youngest of them all. They need guidance, care, understanding, and mentoring. And the mentor or coach is the oldest of them all--top management.
So when an employee is temporarily acquires the given name in the certain company he or she knows what is his or her personality in the company and the age of his or her work. But sometimes giving the right name to the employee seems like being ignored by some of the companies thus it seems that "name" is not yet at the right "age."
But think about this. When you can work different things at the same time and you are willing to work under different names but the company you are working with only baptist you with just one name surely you will just be yourself--your current job title. No matter how much you would like to grow you will still be called with the same name since you started with the company, you will still work the same tasks under your name even though your "age" has increased. So it is not just a job title--it is your name in the company.
Always remember we are just representing the company with the "job title" and we are not the owner of it for the rest of our lives. When we leave the job position or the company, any one could replace it but the job title and company name remain.
Thinking to shift to another career or job, may be it is not advisable yet in current economic status and but time and happiness suffer. Although there is no absolute happiness in this world and perhaps time too. No one could tell you exactly what makes you happy. Oh yes, there are many people around you, most especially your family, friends, and significant other, who would tell you what you could do and what you should not do. But there's no one to be blame with your decision except you. Why? Because you are a rational being. If you want to change your career for some reason, or let's say you are not happy anymore then decide for your own while getting the opinions of people you love and close to you and after that mark your final word and be responsible for it. For me there is no wrong decision, but your actions leading to the result are the ones which could be right or wrong.
So when you decide to think of leaving your current job or career, make sure your actions would be leading to the right result.
Two months or more. And now I'm back. Busy or I just don't give time with my blog. I don't know how many have visited my site since then and I have no time to visit others as well... no promotion. Those days of not being active here in my blog, I was in the midst of getting more involved in the creation of our new magazine that will be finally coming out this July 2009 (but most likely subscribers from Singapore will get the first hand of our first issue). I got no sleep last May 25 and still in the office in the start of May 26. I left with my colleagues at the office at 3 a.m. and got home at around 4 a.m. I just ate my breakfast as soon as I arrived home and take a nap for 15 minutes and then took a bath. And yes I was ready to go to work at 6:30 a.m. I had an event to cover so at 8 a.m. I should be at the venue. It was not really advisable to cover an event without in real shape. Though it wasn't the drowsiest day ever in my entire career, it was for me an important day to be awake every minute of the seminar. And admittedly even the lively speaker at that time did not sound a great help to stay awake. Just good thing I was able to approach people our magazine targeting to feature.
The next day I think I got more okay, though before the sleepness night I was already sick. But i should keep going. I was then joking to my colleague I have swine flu, hahaha, how bad I am. But of course they knew that I was not. My allergic rhinitis really killing my throat. Yes, I know I should be suffering from colds and keep sneezing. But since my concha, I forgot the part, almost blocking my nostrils the mucous couldn't pass through so it just give me sore throat and eventually I would suffer from tonsillopharyngitis. And it would be a time for me to have less talk or nothing at all, less stress, more sleep, more ascorbic acid, soft diet, no preservatives (on food), no catsup and soy sauce. It took for almost two weeks before I recovered. Just yesterday I felt really okay though last night, I could still feel my throat aching.
But everything is worth it. It is less than a month before the product of my and my colleagues efforts in our magazine would finally reach the aspiring managers in business, lifestyle, and society. And as part of the pioneer team (with two people at first, I and the executive editor), I would like to see our magazine growing than the first magazine we had. Now it is not just me (associate editor) and the executive editor who will work with the different departments such as marketing, sales, logistics, business development and management, and of course the editorial, but we are now nine and still counting to work for the new magazine. For this I have a big decision to make. To stay or not to stay in editorial department. Since my foremost responsibility is the editorial I have to focus on it while doing the marketing on the side to keep our magazine in the market still it doesn't officially or authorize me to work fully to the said department and it seems that it nobody will work solely for the marketing and the management doesn't take it seriously--the marketing--when it fact it should also be in the circulation of the business, but may be because their focus are the product and sales. And after days of thinking whether I should leave my current position as the associate editor of the magazine, I finally open up my decision to our executive editor. Though it is also painful to leave my first love--editorial, I should think also that it is just the "term--leave," but really I am staying because of my first love, I want it to grow. And though I know I am not the key player in the editorial department, i feel like that each member of the team contributes which means I will be turning over my contribution to someone to not leave an empty seat for the whole team. And I will continue with another contribution for us to give full support to the company. And though it is not yet final if I will be handling the marketing department, I just hope that whatever happens we will be fulfilling our goal for the magazine: to provide inspiration to aspiring managers managers on business, lifestyle, and society since we know have ideas for the improvement of business and life.
Back to work! Tomorrow, long vacation is over. Same people to see in the workplace, anticipate more works this year after a two-week rest, but for sure new things will going to happen. This year, it might be a busy year and full of planning each day and I have to start it. No more waiting, no more what ifs, no more later... just doing it all with my heart and soul.
Accept the risk and accept the pain. And in the end it will worth it to enter the world of uncertainty. No pain, no gain anyway. :)
I just hope and pray that I would be able to succeed in the path I am going to take. A path that would change part of my life.
Dream high. Plan with actions.

Roughly two years ago, I was in a never-I-imagine-I-would-do job, but it was a noble job. A teacher. At that time (I think even today) ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching is in-demand. And accidentally, I entered this world.
My friend asked me if I have work at that time and I was actually seeking for a job since I was retrenched in my previous work due to the reason of economic crisis inside the company, it was not actually that I have discovered just recently, they just want to dissolve the editorial department and the other important unit of marketing services. But anyways, things happen for a reason.
Without further ado, my friend told me that I was going to teach arts to kids. It was an interesting job since I would still do a small part what I do with my previous job. But in my surprise I will be teaching a different nationality, which at that time I wasn't that eager.
But since I was already there and had my interview, though when I was asked when could I start I said, "Anytime." Then the general manager said, "How about, let's say this afternoon?" I swallowed and said may be on Thursday morning. Hahahaha!
And surprisingly, I learned to love them. And now they are coming back here and my friend asked if we could meet up with them. Though I am not yet saying yes, I am excited to see three of my students.
And with this job experience, I started to use my other nickname as my pen name in my current work now and I feel successful with this name rather than with my previous one that I've used in my former work.

Most of the companies and organization worldwide are busy on focusing on their business strategy. However, not all the strategies succeed. And when failure comes on their way, surely this word joins them: BLAME.
Who was inefficient? Who did not deliver the strategy well? Who was responsible? See everyone pointing their finger to anyone just to save themselves. Yeah, some would take the responsibility.
In my two days of workshop, I realize why in some point in time in my work I became a burden to my coworkers. The workshop bring in the "box" and describe how this affects each person, not only in workplace, but as well as in the family.
While we are busy seeing people as the ones not cooperating, as the ones bad, as the ones impolite, and so on and so forth, we forgot to look at ourselves and see why people around us acted that way especially toward us.
I learn that when a person sees people as an object, he/she doesn't see them clearly as people. That's when this person is "in the box." Arbringer Institute has published "Leadership and Self-Deception" that tells a story of a man (Tom), a manager, hired by a company (Zagrum) and after a month of working in the company he able to discover why the company he's presently working is successful not just because of merely taking it as a business, but learning and understanding what "in the box" and "out of the box" mean.
And while he's discovering the secret of company's success and what he was in a month when he joined the company, he has also able to take away the long suffering he has in his family and seeing clearly that he is the problem. The box has save his relationship with his wife and son, as well as his relationship with each coworkers in Zagrum.
If you're company is interested to discover the box in you, you may spend two days or three days in this workshop and be amazed by the changes it would bring to your organization and your family.
Contact me at witchyprudencecharlz@gmail.com and I'll assist you to see the box.

Last Wednesday, I was able to talk to my sister-friend, who's currently in Singapore, (she’s actually my friend, but treat each other as a sister) through ym. She was seeking for an advice about her plan to change her career. She wants venture to an art-related job to an art-related company since she felt a little bored in spending for more than five years into a non-profit organization. Even though she enjoys the work in a NGO, still she wants to take the career path that she loves. So, when she browsed the net and found two different works, one is related to her degree and the other one is the work she loves to learn and grow with.
I told her, she it would be better to move to another company only if she thinks she would love the tasks. Submit her resume only to the jobs she thinks she will perform well and she will fit to the culture.
When she told me the posts and the descriptions, I know that in an editor post she’s absolutely qualified and will perform, but then she might feel bored with the topics she would be writing in case she would be hired. And then I said, 'You may still submit your resume and see what's the publication really is. You won't know unless you discover. And besides, nothing's final yet, after the interview and if they find you qualified then accept you, you may still think if you want to sign contract with them or not." On the other hand, junior copywriter post is a job that she most likely will start from scratch, but then she has this eagerness to learn and she believes that she has the skills in writing superb ad or catchy selling point. And what she likes about is she will be working with artists particularly with graphic artists.
And you know what? She submitted her resume in both jobs, but she knows well that she will choose the junior role over the senior role in case, but then she still wants to explore more.
Want to follow her career story? Keep visiting my blog. Or do you have the same problem and you're seeking for an advice? Reach me at witchyprudencecharlz@gmail.com.
I will publish your letter and my advice here at my blog.
Thank you for reading.
