My Students will be Visiting the Country

Roughly two years ago, I was in a never-I-imagine-I-would-do job, but it was a noble job. A teacher. At that time (I think even today) ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching is in-demand. And accidentally, I entered this world.

My friend asked me if I have work at that time and I was actually seeking for a job since I was retrenched in my previous work due to the reason of economic crisis inside the company, it was not actually that I have discovered just recently, they just want to dissolve the editorial department and the other important unit of marketing services. But anyways, things happen for a reason.

Without further ado, my friend told me that I was going to teach arts to kids. It was an interesting job since I would still do a small part what I do with my previous job. But in my surprise I will be teaching a different nationality, which at that time I wasn't that eager.

But since I was already there and had my interview, though when I was asked when could I start I said, "Anytime." Then the general manager said, "How about, let's say this afternoon?" I swallowed and said may be on Thursday morning. Hahahaha!

And surprisingly, I learned to love them. And now they are coming back here and my friend asked if we could meet up with them. Though I am not yet saying yes, I am excited to see three of my students.

And with this job experience, I started to use my other nickname as my pen name in my current work now and I feel successful with this name rather than with my previous one that I've used in my former work.

Christmas and Basketball

A different celebration for last Christmas day for me and may be for my significant other too. Though as usual, I spent this day with my family at home, sharing stories, reminiscing the past, and laughing till we drop. But this year something has add up to my usual celebration. It was my second time Christmas with my significant other (or should I say have someone--my first and hopefully my last man I would ever love) and even though we were not together to celebrate we felt that we were still. We played Freestyle--online street basketball game.

Even though he is not really that good in playing basketball and I myself not playing anymore, we have a great teamwork with this online basketball game. We won several times and lost number of times too, but what important is that we enjoyed playing it and we even found new friends.

Tonight we are going to seek for new challenger and work on with our teamwork. It is like working on our relationship to grow more.

Christmas today and tomorrow

Happy Christmas! After tight schedule since December came in, alas, yesterday I got rest. Today, I prepare for Christmas and surprise for my loved ones especially for my nephews and niece and of course my mama. I was able to greet my papa when he called (hope next year he'll again spend Christmas with us). My beloved nephew is excited to open his gifts that me and my significant other have given to him since December 6. Finally, it's revelation time of our gift.

My brother's family (second to the five siblings) are here and so as our little sister (though she's no longer little one :), but still our little since she's the youngest) with her son. Tomorrow on Christmas day, my brother's family (third to the five) will be joining us in celebrating the day. Our eldest brother will be spending Christmas with his wife's family, but be here to light fireworks and welcome the 2009.

I miss those Christmas times with them, the time when they are all singles. The time that we altogether were opening gifts and laughing and reminiscing the previous months of happiness and sufferings. Nevertheless, it's also nice to see them with their spouses with my nephews and niece that are playing and running into our house. Though, yeah, they're screaming and shouting while playing.

Although it will be far to long to see myself having my own child, they are all prepared, well should I say a little prepared. :) And hope that my beloved significant other, will be the one I'll be marrying and sharing times in raising our family and child. Anyways, I'll cross the bridge when I get there.

Share Love. Be Loved.

Jeff Dunham and Achmed, the Dead Terrorist on Stage

Although almost quite everybody fears terrorism, one terrorist would make us laugh. I have discovered this terrorist when my significant other showed a video from Youtube where his colleagues had shown to them. I couldn't hold my laughters upon watching the amazing Achmed, the dead terrorist with Jeff Dunham.

Since then, I started to ask my colleagues and friends if they knew about Achmed and most of them don't know so I shared the videos to them.

May be most have seen and known Ahmed or Achmed, but for those who happen to miss the chance to get to known Jeff Dunham's Achmed I have the video below.

Enjoy watching. Have a big laugh.

The Patient - Part 2 of 16

Actually, I myself is still clueless on how I have got involved with this kind of duty. I told you, I am not a doctor or even a psychologist, but healing one's emotion is my specialization. A does of fortune telling, mind reading, analyzing situation, consultation, advising with my patients depending on their "illness" are may be some of my ways of healing.

Most of my patients want their sickness to be cured when it is still in acute stage, though I have also encountered new patients already at chronic stage that really needs a higher dosage and intensive care.

I remember one of my patients. She was nearly to chronic. She asked, "Why I've always got hurt?"

There was my hand comforting her back then when I said, "May be because you let them do that to you,"

Sometimes I doubt the words that comes out from my mouth are right for any stage of emotional sickness.

But whether acute or chronic, I always make it sure that before I leave them, they have figured out the cause of the problem. It is like helping them to see the root cause of their problem rather than telling them the possible origin.

And believe it or not, any origin of their disease, if you will see its psychological aspects, is leading to heart failure. Then of course if taken for granted, it might cause a brain damage.

So I have to think for another cure to prevent brain damage. As I have said, I am like a doctor, but I am also like Socrates. I use the Socratic Method, continualy questioning, then coming up with the answers. And then criticizing them or probably analyzation is the more appropriate word. And I find it effective and quite therapeutic.

By the way, I call them patients not because I consider them sick, but simply because I am quite a doctor for them. They come to me for a sort of consultation.

Day after day is new to me. I have new people to meet. It is amazaing and quite rewarding because some of my patients became my friends.

The Patient - Part 1 of 16

I THOUGHT THAT when I knew the cure to an illness and when it struck me, I would just follow my own prescription. Yes, may be some of it I could easily apply to myself but most of the remedy would be hard.

I have prescribed a lot of medication to my patients and they were very obedient. Well, at least some of them were obedient enough to take even the partial of it.

By the way, I am not a doctor but I have patients.

I am an accountant working eight hours a day, five days a week. Every day I see numbers. Always have calculator at my side. Computer has been patiently waiting for me every day. Stacks of file ready for documentation are the usual stuff at my desk. Counting and computing figures. Preparing balance sheet and account statement. This is my life since five years ago.

But I am not bored.

Thank God that aside from dealing with numbers, there is something that broke my daily routine. On the contrary, it also happens every day and it has been my duty since high school. May I mention that sometimes I am on-call for some sort of emergency? Yes, like any doctor there are patients that need an immediate attention. So I have to excuse myself in the office. Glad that my boss allows me with this set up. Anyway, emergency cases are not on daily basis.

Aside from that, I am receiving phone calls not lower than five everyday. My email inbox has bunch of message everyday, too. And oh, not to mention letters I am receiving at the office. A little rest and privacy are important to me which is why I preferred not to give my home address to anyone aside from my close friends. Meeting my new patients somewhere else would be fine.

I know you are quite curious now so I will tell you what “my other duty is”.

Dream Match is Over, Pacquiao Defeats Dela Hoya

It was a nerve-racking Sunday for the whole world (well, at least for most of the countries worldwide if not all, :)) Two of the favorite boxing figures finally had faced-off at the MGM Grand stadium with a stunning win for the Filipino boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao over Oscar "The Golden Boy" Dela Hoya in a welterweight division in KO Round 8 yesterday at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao dominated the bout since Round 3 to Round 8 when Dela Hoya finally threw white flag as signal of his surrender to the fight

Both boxers claimed that they had a great fight and their both great fighters. "I'm so lucky tonight," said Pacquiao.

Dela Hoya said that Pacman deserved the win.

The new welterweight boxing champion is eyeing for Ricky Hatton as his next contender.

Will Earth survive Hundred Years from Now?

I missed visiting my blog for almost four days, but it's all right since there was an important matter that I have attended to. It might sound boring, but in reality it is what the world's one of the major concerns: Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.

Little we realize that the more we play stupid and ignorant in throwing our garbage the more we sacrifice our future. We don't act unless we experience the worst.

Last December 4-5, Thursday and Friday, I have attended the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management in Cebu City, Philippines. Admittedly, I am aware of the pollution, garbage, environmental problems, but not on the deepest issue about it. Most of us don't know exactly why we need to properly dispose garbage and the effects of letting solid and hazardous waste thrown everywhere and anywhere.

In Philippines alone, most, if not all, of the communities fails to segragate their garbage from biodegradable to non-biodegradable. And surprisingly, the answer for this failure is the traditional way of disposing garbage. Filipinos are accustomed to throwing all kinds of garbage in just one trash bin irregardless if it's biodegradable or non-biodegradable and some letting a candy wrapper freely flying when in fact they could have place it properly in a trash bin. And not only Filipinos do this, believe me.

For better understanding of this this, let's watch a video from a 12-year-old girl then that speaks for her generation's future during the 1992 UN Earth Summit. This video has been shared during Cebu Link's event, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management at Casino de Espanol.

Let's recycle! :)

December 12, The Day the Earth Stood Still

Yesterday, I was riding on the bus with my special someone when he suddenly covered my eyes for about six seconds.

Then I asked, "Why?"

"Si Keanu Reeves," he said with a smile.

He knew very well that I like Keanu and when he saw the billboard of Keanu's latest film "The Day the Earth Stood Still," he wanted to tease me. But then of course I still saw the billboard and turned to him and said, "That's the one I am telling you, Keanu's latest film. Panoorin natin ha?" I said enthusiastically. And I was very excited.

The Day the Earth Stood Still is a remake of the 1951 classic science fiction film about an alien and giant robot counterpart who visit the Earth to warn the planet about nuclear war.

Alien traveler, Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) moves to planet Earth with bodyguard robot Gort to alert the people with planetary destruction if the people of the world fail to bring peace to their civilization.

To bring this great film with Keanu Reeves are Jennifer Connely, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, and Jaden Christopher Smith. The Day the Earth Stood Still is directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose).

Well, of course, I am really looking forward on seeing this film. And when I saw the trailer, I really can't wait for its release date. But I don't want to be biased, I'll give you the freedom to judge this film. As for me, it will be one of Keanu Reeves' remarkable film.

Have fun!
